About the Emmaus Community Foundation

Peter Adams is an Emmaus native with current professional pursuits as a Commercial Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway / Fox & Roach. His decade-long career in commercial real estate followed a 20 years of business ownership in a variety of sectors including logistics, property management, hospitality, and investment real estate. 

Peter lives in the Emmaus area with his wife and two children, and has been active in a variety of committees supporting the economic growth of the Borough.

Chad Balliet has lived in Emmaus for 25 years. He and his wife, Heather, own South Mountain Cycle and Cafe, the Lehigh Valley's largest independently owned bicycle shop, for the past decade. He has served for one term on Emmaus Borough Council and he is a founding member of newly formed Emmaus Community Foundation. He also sits on the East Penn Chamber Board while serving on various board committees. 

Mr. Balliet lives in Emmaus with his wife and their son, Melvin. He believes that he can continue to make a meaningful and positive impact in our community with his hard work, dedication, and determination.

Chris DeFrain is graduate of Emmaus High School and a long-time resident of Emmaus. His is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a former partner at a Regional CPA firm, and a former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Lehigh Valley Restaurant Group, Inc, dba Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews. He currently owns a business coaching and consulting firm, Chris DeFrain Consulting, LLC.  

Chris lives in Emmaus with his wife and two children, and has been active in Emmaus Youth Association and Emmaus Borough Council.

Dustin M. Grim has lived in Emmaus for 25 years. He is the owner and supervisor of Schantz Funeral Home, P.C. He’s held active roles in many civic and professional organizations in Emmaus and throughout the state. 

Dustin is married to Andrea B. (Bechtel) Grim. They reside in Emmaus with their sons, Matthew and Benjamin. He is looking forward to being able to help the Emmaus community continue to prosper. 

 John Hart is stepping down after five years of service on Emmaus Borough Council to direct his energies as president and board member of the Emmaus Community Foundation. He recently retired as senior vice president of medical operations at Lehigh Valley Health Network after a distinguished 33 year career.  John has given back to the community with extensive involvement in charitable community board service including board chair positions on both local and state boards. 

He and his wife Kathleen, a retired reading specialist teacher, are 40-plus-year residents of the borough having raised two adult daughters whose families continue as Green Hornet fans living in and just outside of Emmaus.  

Janie Slamon has been an Emmaus resident since 1985.   A licensed attorney, she has worked as inside corporate counsel and taught legal classes at the collegiate level. She has served in various volunteer leadership roles in Emmaus and the surrounding community.  

Janie and her husband, Bruce Luff, have three adult children.  They both continue to be active in the community to enhance the quality of life in Emmaus and the Lehigh Valley.

Evan Walters, a resident of Emmaus since 2003, resides in the borough with his wife and two  children - the eldest daughter being a recent  Emmaus High graduate. He is the owner and Chief Operating Officer of Kappe Associates Inc., with a primary focus on water and wastewater infrastructure. 

Maintaining an office in Emmaus since 2011, Evan takes pride in participating in the Main Street business community. He is actively involved in memberships and committees within the water and wastewater municipal market across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. Evan looks forward to contributing to the Emmaus Community Foundation team helping to enhance the quality of life in Emmaus.
